Authorities released the name of a teenage girl who died after a vehicle she was in collided with a wall in east Las Vegas.
Mariel Mahuiztl, 16, died in the wreck on Monday, according to the Clark County Coroner's office.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, the wreck happened on McLeod Drive near Palora Avenue at 8:55 a.m.
The 16-year-old was a passenger of the vehicle, police said. She was transported to Sunrise Hospital, Trauma Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver, identified as Gustavo Mahuiztl, 19, sustained minor injuries.
Witnesses told police the 1994 Toyota the two were traveling in was in the bus turnout lane right of the northbound travel lanes of McLeod Drive before leaving the roadway and smashing into a residential block wall.
This marks the 92nd fatal traffic-related crash in Metro's jurisdiction so far this year. The crash remains under investigation.
