WHITE HILLS, AZ (FOX5) -

At least one person was killed after a tour bus accident on U.S. 93 before the Nevada-Arizona border.

According to KPHO-TV in Phoenix, the wreck happened just before 8 p.m. Friday on the northbound 93 highway at Mile Marker 19.

Authorities said the bus driver was killed in the wreck. Silver State Trailways confirms the name of that driver as Ron Sparks, 52.

All 48 passengers on the bus were injured, but the 6 passengers with more serious injuries were air lifted to UMC Trauma.

There were 15 additional passengers with less severe injuries that were taken to area hospitals by ambulance.

The Silver State Trailways bus was headed northbound on U.S. 93 near the Nevada state line when the driver lost control, said the Arizona highway patrol.

Police suspect Sparks suffered a medical episode.

Lanes of the 93 were closed for several hours.

Arizona Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
