University Medical Center officials and the Clark County Coroner's office are investigating a person who was found dead outside the hospital Wednesday morning.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, officers responded to reports of an unresponsive person outside UMC about 6:30 a.m.
Medical personnel pronounced the person dead as officers arrived, police said.
Authorities did not immediately disclose the manner and cause of the person's death. Metro said investigation of the death is being deferred to UMC and the Coroner's office.
An official with UMC confirmed a body found outside the hospital on Wednesday. That official, though, could not confirm if the person was being treated at the hospital due to patient privacy laws.
The coroner is expected to later release the person's identity.
