A Las Vegas man died at Lake Mead over the weekend while cliff jumping into the water, park rangers said Tuesday.

According to the National Park Service, Jared D. Jarvis, 28, was injured and unresponsive after a cliff jump about 1 p.m. on Oct. 13.

Jarvis' friends transported him to Hemenway Harbor, where they were met by emergency personnel, authorities said. Jarvis died about 30 minutes after the incident, according to rangers.

Authorities said drug and alcohol use were contributing factors in the incident.

The Clark County Coroner's office is expected to release an exact cause of Jarvis' death.
