Kicks 4 Kids shoe drive to benefit local children

Posted: Updated:

Partygoers at Vanity Nightclub can do more than just sip on cocktails this weekend. The club is hosting a "sneaker freakin' kids shoe drive" called Kicks 4 Kids to help local children.

Commissioner Lawrence Weekly will host the event, which will benefit Peggy's Attic. The local organization is the donation center for Clark County Family Services, and helps provide clothing, shoes, toys, diapers, toiletry items, developmental toys, school supplies, and many other items free of charge to abused and neglected children.

Many of those kids find themselves at Child Haven, a shelter that strives to put abandoned children back in stable homes. When the children depart the shelter, the Department of Family Services provides a duffel bag filled with new items. But the Department receives no financial assistance for these bags, and works solely off of community contributions.

That is why they need shoes. Anyone attending the event, who donates a new and unused pair, will get free admission to the nightclub. All donations are welcome; however there are a few items on the donation wish list:

Tennis Shoes for Teen Girls – Women's Sizes: 6.5 through 9.5

Tennis Shoes for Teen Boys – Men's Sizes: 7 through 12

Tennis Shoes for Girls – Little Sizes: 6 through 13.5

Tennis Shoes for Boys – Little Sizes: 6 through 13.5

The event takes place Saturday at 10 p.m.
