LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Metro police are investigating the robbery and assault of an armored truck guard that occurred Friday morning just before noon in downtown Las Vegas.

Police said a guard was walking along a hallway at Las Vegas Premium Outlets on South Grand Central Parkway when he was attacked by two men wielding a baseball bat.

The robbers then grabbed a bag the guard was attempting to deliver to a retailer and tried to flee. The guard gave chase and fired shots at the robbers. It is not believed anyone was hit.

The robbers were able to escape in a four-door sedan which was last seen heading northbound on Grand Central Parkway. The sedan may have mismatched wheels.

The guard was taken to a hospital for observation.

Police believe the suspects are both in their 20s. One suspect was wearing a black hoodie, stocking cap, sunglasses and an unknown colored shirt. There is no clothing description for the second suspect.

Both suspects had stubble beards, were wearing construction reflector vests and are described as between 5'8" and 5'11".

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call Metro's Robbery Section at (702)-828-3591 or Crime Stoppers at (702)-385-5555. You also may leave information at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
