LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A morning fire appears to have started as someone attempted to break into a smoke shop with a cutting torch, officials said Friday.
The owners of the shop were called before 2 a.m. when an alarm company for the business at 3827 E. Sunset Rd. detected a break-in. When the owners arrived they discovered smoke in the building and called 911.
The Clark County Fire Department, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, and Metro police all responded to the fire and were able to control the situation quickly.
Officials on scene Friday said someone tried to cut a hole in the back door of the business using a torch. The torch apparently lit material inside the business on fire.
No injuries were reported. Damage to the smoke shop was estimated at $5,000.
The incident remains under investigation.
