The 2012 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open teed off at TPC Summerlin Thursday morning, with everyone at the tournament well aware of all the changes on the way for 2013.
First, Justin Timberlake will no longer be the tournament's host.
"It's been a great relationship for the last five years, and it's always been a five-year relationship," said tournament director Adam Sperling.
"(Timberlake) helped elevate the cache of this tournament. He's a huge name in a huge city filled with those names that come to town. Can't overstate the impact of Justin on this tournament," added Sperling.
But looking ahead, the departure of Timberlake won't mean much when the tournament, which will be shortened to Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, becomes a part of the Fed Ex Cup next year.
The PGA Tour's playoff system offers golfers a $10 million bonus to its champion.
It will be sure to draw the tour's biggest stars.
