Gov. announcing new state university contests

Governor Brian Sandoval will announce Monday new annual athletic and academic competitions between Nevada's two universities. The contests will be presented by NV Energy.

Sandoval will be joined at Monday's announcement by NV Energy CEO Michael Yackira, university presidents Marc Johnson and Neal Smatresk and other special guests as they unveil details of the plan that creates head-to-head contests between the Nevada Wolf Pack and UNLV Rebels.

Wolf Pack men's and women's basketball coaches David Carter and Jane Albright and Rebels men's and women's basketball coaches Dave Rice and Kathy Olivier will be part of Monday's announcement.

The all-encompassing competition will annually crown one school the winner of the Governor's Series.
