LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Las Vegas Metro police said two people sustained critical injuries as a result of a seven-vehicle wreck in the northwest end of the city on Tuesday.
Metro's Accident Investigation Section reported the incident on Decatur Boulevard at Cheyenne Avenue just before 3 p.m.
Police said several vehicles were waiting in the southbound left turn lane of Decatur when the accident happened.
Metro said a Ford Explorer struck a Chevy pick-up truck and a Kia Soul. The collision forced the Kia into the northbound lanes, which also caused it to hit another pick-up, Metro said.
The Explorer also struck several more vehicles before coming to rest, police said.
A total of 12 people were treated for minor to critical injuries, with one of the patients suffering life-threatening injuries.
All patients were transported to University Medical Center.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
