LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is going beyond its daily duties today for First Tuesday. This open house event takes place on the first Tuesday of every month, and aims to get the community more involved with local law enforcement.
October is National Crime Prevention month, so Metro will be arming community members with tips on staying safe. Crime Prevention specialists will offer seminars at local Area Commands throughout the Valley. Topics include:
- Crime trends and prevention techniques related to residential, apartment and condominium burglaries
- Vehicle burglary prevention
- Halloween and pedestrian safety
- Street-robbery prevention
The seminars start at 7 p.m. Metro encourages everyone to get involved. The event is also an opportunity for members of the community to meet the police officers who patrol their neighborhoods.
