HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FL, was in Henderson Tuesday, stumping for presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The senator held a rally at Green Valley Ranch, attracting numerous Republican politicians and local supporters.

Rubio expressed his frustrations with the Obama White House. Having lived in southern Nevada for several years as a child, Rubio easily connected with the crowd.

"I don't know if you guys know that President Obama is a couple of blocks away from here," Rubio said in reference to President Barack Obama's stay at Lake Las Vegas. The statement was answered with a round of boos.

Rubio didn't hold back attacking the Obama administration.

"They come up with brilliant ideas, and no one is stopping to ask them, 'Hey, how many jobs will this cost? How many people does this put out of business?' We have anti-business rhetoric in the White House," Rubio said.

Before Rubio took the stage, congressional candidate Danny Tarkanian and Rep. Joe Heck spoke briefly. Romney's son, Matt Romney, introduced Rubio.

Rubio spoke about how his mother worked at Imperial Palace on the Las Vegas Strip while his father tended bar at Sam's Town hotel and casino.

"People decide maybe this is not the year to take that vacation to Henderson or to Las Vegas, so who pays the price? People like my mom and dad, people like you," Rubio said.

Rubio's speech inspired many who attended.

"He's so inspirational. He knows what's going on," said supporter Nathan Winkel.

"Practically everything he said struck a chord with me," said another supporter, Peter Silva.

"He really emphasized the fact that we need to grow on our own and not have the government control us," added supporter Carol Shane.

However, Nevada state Democratic Party spokesman Zach Hudson said Rubio and Mitt Romney's ideas will actually hurt Nevada.

"(The GOP plan will) give more tax breaks to corporations which are shipping American jobs overseas," Hudson said.
