An apartment community was shaken up early Saturday morning when several Metro officers began blocking an area inside the Summerlin community.

"About 9:13 Saturday morning, Metro received a call in reference to a female found deceased inside her apartment on the 2600 block of South Pavilion Center. During the preliminary investigations, it was determined that the death is not natural," said Lt. Nichole Spinter from Metro police.

Within hours, Metro's Homicide Unit was on scene along with the Clark County Fire Department.

"At this time, it does not appear that no one was inside the residence. We are still in the preliminary phases of this investigation, so we do not have any suspect information at this time," added Splinter.

The victim is described as a 45-year-old female. It's unknown who reported the body to authorities or how long she had been inside the home.

"This is a great time for everyone to be cognizant of their surroundings and aware of what is going on in their community. If anyone saw anything suspicious that occurred at this apartment complex, we would appreciate any information," added Splinter.

Although Metro officials did not reveal details about the case, many residents felt like they were left in the dark.

"They found a body in the neighborhood. I have kids and I have been living here for three years. I thought this was a very nice area to live in," said Desyree Betancourt, a local resident.

"I'm concerned because there isn't any news about what it is or if it is something we should be concerned about," said another neighbor.
