The captain is back on board, as is a high-scoring center.
The Las Vegas Wranglers Friday announced that defenseman and team captain Mike Madill and forward Judd Blackwater have agreed to terms for the upcoming season.
Madill, who will don the captain's "C" for the second time this season, returns for his fifth season. The 5'11", 194-pound D-man has put up 112 points (20 goals, 92 assists) for the Wranglers in 275 games.
Madill, who holds the record for most games as a Wrangler, also played in the American Hockey League (AHL), prowling the blue line for the Houston Aeros, Quad City Flames and Milwaukee Admirals.
"Mike is a huge part of the Las Vegas community, and the community is a big part of him," said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Ryan Mougenel. "His leadership and character make me lucky as a coach to have him. He did a tremendous job leading the guys last season, and we're fortunate to have our captain back as an extension of our staff."
Blackwater, 25, was among the Wranglers' highest scorers last season, tallying 56 points (21 goals, 35 assists) in 46 regular-season games. He also notched 14 playoff points. The 6', 193-pound center managed an 11-game point-scoring streak and a hat trick before being called up to the AHL's Abbotsford Heat.
"Judd's commitment to the game, and his own conditioning, was a major reason why he saw significant time in the American Hockey League last year, and put out the numbers he did for us," Mougenel said. "He's a fun player to watch and I look to him to be a huge offensive catalyst this year."
The Wranglers will square off with the Stockton Thunder opening weekend, Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20. For tickets and information, visit www.lasvegaswranglers.com.
