A viewing was scheduled Wednesday for a Clark County Fire captain who passed away this week.

Paul Young died on Sept. 22, according to Clark County officials.

Young, 55, is being remembered as a long-time member of CCFD and, at one point, was recognized as the youngest paramedic in Nevada.

Clark County said Young graduated from Clark High School in 1974. About that time, he became the youngest paramedic in the state at 19 years old.

After spending 13 years as a medic in Nevada and California, he became a firefighter with CCFD in 1988. He served as a paramedic and eventually ascended to the fire captain position.

He was survived by his wife and a daughter.

The public viewing was slated for Davis Memorial Park Mausoleum at 6200 S. Eastern Avenue from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A memorial was set for Thursday at Hope Baptist Church at 850 E. Cactus Avenue at 9 a.m.
