The reigning ECHL Western Conference champion Las Vegas Wranglers last week locked up No. 1 goalie Joe Fallon. On Tuesday, the team announced it has come to terms with two key forwards.
High-scoring center Eric Lampe and gritty left wing Adam Huxley will return for the upcoming season.
Lampe, 26, is coming off a season during which he put up 67 points and put the puck in the neck 37 times. 37 goals is a Wranglers single season record.
Lampe's output earned him both ECHL Player of the Week and Player of the Month honors and he was twice called up to the AHL last season.
"Eric is coming off a huge year statistically, and I think he matured a ton as a player last year and made huge gains," said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Ryan Mougenel. "His speed creates an offensive gap that backs other teams off, and he's got a nose for the net, which was obvious last season. He's a great teammate and the other guys enjoy having him around."
Huxley, no stranger to the sin bin, managed 10 points (8 goals, 2 assists) and 179 penalty minutes in 53 games with the Wranglers last season. The pro hockey veteran has appeared in 431 ECHL games and several AHL games.
"Adam brought something to the team that we needed last year, and he was a big reason for our playoff success," Mougenel said. "Besides the physical element he brings, he also provides an offensive spark, which at times is underappreciated, and I look forward to his leadership."
The Wranglers will take on the Stockton Thunder during opening weekend, Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20. For tickets and information, visit www.lasvegaswranglers.com.
