LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A Las Vegas man, who had been convicted in an impaired driving death last Halloween, was ordered to remain in jail following a second driving arrest.
Justin Caramanica appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court on Tuesday for an initial hearing after he was booked for DUI.
Clark County jail records showed Caramanica, 41, was booked Sept. 22 on charges of driving under the influence, failure to drive within marked lanes and driving on a revoked license.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, Caramanica crashed into a parked car and tried to flee the scene in this second incident.
A motion from the office of the Clark County District Attorney released Monday said after the accident on Saturday night, Caramanica admitted to taking Oxycodone, Xanax and a drug called Soma earlier in the day.
Caramanica had been free on bond while awaiting sentencing for felony DUI connected to the Halloween, 2011 crash that killed 12-year-old Faith Love.
Caramanica pleaded guilty in July on a reduced charge in connection to Love's death. He was released on bail with restrictions that he wear a monitoring bracelet and not drive a vehicle until his sentencing, according to court records.
Prosecutors filed a request with the judge to revoke Caramanica's bail, adding that blood tests are still pending for this latest incident.
On Monday, the 12-year-old's mother, Rocquell Love, told FOX5 that Caramanica should have never been free on bail to begin with.
"He's shown the public - not just once with taking my daughter's life - but now it's like I can do what I want," she said.
A bail revocation hearing regarding the Halloween crash was scheduled for Thursday. Sentencing for that case was scheduled for November.
Caramanica's next hearing regarding the second DUI incident was scheduled for Oct. 2.
