Students, if you've got an eye for decoration, this is for you. The Valley Automall is again seeking entrants for its annual tree decorating contest.
The contest, which takes place Friday, Nov. 30 at each of the Valley Automall's 20 dealer showrooms, will benefit Clark County School District extracurricular activities.
Students will form teams. The first place team will receive a $3000 cash prize; the second place team gets $2,000 followed by $1,000 for third.
The school district is facing a $64 million budget shortfall, with extracurricular activities on the chopping block.
"Unfortunately, students are being forced to find alternative funding solutions outside of the school to sustain sports, clubs, and debate teams," said Valley Automall manager Valorie Staley. "Valley Automall is happy to lend a helping hand to preserve this vital component of the high school experience. The tree decorating contest encourages teamwork and creativity, but it also provides money for extracurricular student activities."
The Valley Automall will provide each team with a budget to purchase tree decorations. Each team with decorate a 10-foot tree inside a specific dealership. The contest will be judged by local celebrities.
Entries are being accepted now on a first-come, first-served basis. Only one team from each school will be chosen to participate. For contest details and an entry form, call (702)-568-1487 or send an email to manager@valleyautomall.
