A Las Vegas couple has been charged with fraud and theft connected to a home loan modification company it managed.

According to the office of Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto, David Young, 37, and Minerva Young, 38, were each charged with four counts of mortgage lending fraud and four counts of theft, among other charges.

Masto's office said it had probable cause that the two falsely represented themselves as negotiators for mortgage loan modifications. Under a company called My State Processing, Masto's office said, the two collected up-front fees for proposed services and never performed them or provided refunds.

Each transaction ranged from $2,500 to $3,000, Masto said.

The couple made an initial court appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court on Sept. 14.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Jan. 14, 2013. Each face 20 years in prison, if convicted, Masto's office said.

The Nevada Attorney General also urged anyone who may have been victims in this case to contact the office's Bureau of Consumer Protection Hotline at 702-486-3132.
