LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

There will be no shortage of hugs today in the Valley thanks to local students of the Paul Mitchell School-Las Vegas. The future beauty professionals will gather in front of Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino at 11 a.m. for their fourth annual ‘Free Hugs Day.'

It is a national campaign taking place throughout the United States in which roughly 16,000 students from 100 of the network's schools will occupy parks, plazas, and other popular places to give out hugs.

Paul Mitchell Schools Dean and Cofounder, Winn Claybaugh, says the campaign makes a difference inside and out.

"As members of the beauty industry, we're in the business of helping people look beautiful. More important, it's part of our 'be nice' culture to help people feel beautiful," he said.

The campaign's inspiration came from a YouTube music video by the Sick Puppies, in which a man spreads the love giving hugs to people he meets on the street. What once started as a random hug from a stranger has now evolved into a world-wide social movement.

Paul-Mitchell School, Las Vegas will also organize a night movement at Mandalay Bay at 7 p.m.
