LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The coroner has identified a body discovered Thursday as Luis Lopez-Solis, 31. Lopez-Solis was washed away at a golf course during Tuesday's torrential rainstorm.

On Friday, FOX5 sat down with his widow who spoke about the pain of her loss and the hope she retained during the search.

"(We thought) we would always be together and it's going to be very difficult to not have him around and not being able to hear his phone calls," said Lopez-Solis' widow, Victoria Mera.

Mera wept openly as she recounted memories of days spent with her husband.

"He would call me in the morning to see how I was doing and wish me a safe trip to work," she said. "Every day he would worry about me."

On Tuesday, Lopez-Solis was operating a tractor at the Desert Rose Golf Course. A quick moving storm hit and the tractor was slammed by rushing water.

For the next two days police crews and volunteers combed the flooded areas on foot as helicopters searched the area from above, looking for any sign of Lopez-Solis.

"We still had high hopes to find him alive somewhere, maybe find him inside a hospital," Mera said.

On Thursday, Metro police discovered a body near a Water Reclamation site about five miles from the golf course. The description of the body matched that of Lopez-Solis.

"All the hope we had died when we were told a body was found," Mera said.

Mera, who is six months pregnant, now faces a long road as a single mother.

"He was going to take care of him and was so excited when he heard I was pregnant," she said. "We were going to take turns babysitting our baby but now that will never happen."

A memorial fund has been set up for Lopez-Solis:

  • Account# 30105870
  • First Security Bank of Nevada
  • 10501 West Gowan Rd.
