MT. CHARLESON (FOX5) -
Members of a multi-agency police task force Thursday removed 553 mature marijuana plants from a remote area in the Mount Charleston National Recreation Area.
Police said the plants had an estimated street value of $500,000 and were discovered by a citizen about 20 miles north of State Route 159 on Lovell Canyon Road.
Police said there were no suspects present at the time of the raid and no arrests have been made. However, air crews reported seeing several people flee the grow site as ground teams approached.
This is the third outdoor marijuana grow discovered in Clark County so far this year. Police uploaded video of Thursday's raid here.
The Southern Nevada HITDA Task Force's "Eradication Team" is made up of officers from Metro, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management and the North Las Vegas Police Department, among others.
