LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Fitzgerald's Casino and Hotel on Fremont Street is celebrating its transformation into the D Casino Hotel next month.
The grand opening will be a weeklong event starting Saturday, Oct. 13 with a performance by Poison front man and solo artist, Bret Michaels. OneRepublic will wrap up the celebration on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Changes to the former Fitzgeralds involve more than just a new name. Renovations began over a year ago and will include a new gaming experience with the latest in slots and table games. As Vegas' only two-level casino, it will tap into that old-school Vegas vibe, featuring vintage slot machines on its second floor.
The D Casino Hotel will have over 600 newly remodeled contemporary rooms and suites. Two new bars will also be introduced - the D Bar and the Longbar, touted as the longest bar in Nevada.
Both Michaels and OneRepublic will be performing on the Third Street Stage on the Fremont Street Experience. The concerts start at 10 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
