LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Two teachers are out on bond after being arrested, accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student.
An arrest report from the Henderson Police Department shows the investigation into teacher Bambi Dewey started when Dewey's sister suspected inappropriate behavior between Dewey, Dewey's boyfriend and two high school girls. Dewey's sister contacted Dewey's ex-husband, who called police.
Detectives say Dewey met the alleged victim back in 2007 when the girl was in the teacher's seventh grade class at Brown Middle School. The teen would go to Dewey's home that she shared with then-boyfriend and fellow teacher John Stalmach. The teen and teachers kept in touch through school activities, and the girl would babysit Dewey's children.
The arrest report shows when interviewed, the teen told detectives the relationships changed this past Christmas break at the couple's home. Stalmach, Dewey and the teen were allegedly drinking Crown whiskey, got naked and started performing sexual acts with each other.
In January, the teen and Stalmach allegedly had sex without Dewey. Dewey and Stalmach later broke up.
The teen also told detectives they all smoked marijuana on different occasions.
A juvenile friend of the teen confirmed all these details to police.
Detectives interviewed Dewey and Stalmach at their separate schools on Monday.
According to the arrest report, Dewey denied the allegations from the girls and said she considered them like her own children. She said they were lying. She was arrested after the interview.
Stalmach also denied the allegations and said it was a mentoring relationship. Then he admitted he and the teen did have sex, but only after Dewey and the teen started without him. He was arrested as well.
FOX5 spoke with one parent who wished to remain anonymous. She said her son was in one of Dewey's classes last year at Brown but she pulled him out of the school because of her inappropriate behavior, "She, in front of the class, made him feel stupid with certain words she used."
The woman said Dewey dressed like a stripper to teach and said the adolescents gave Dewey a nickname. "She was known as Ms. Do Me. She dressed in stilettos, in really tight skirts. That's how my son learned about a push-up bra. She would wear a push-up bra with a low shirt, and then bend over (and show her cleavage) when she helped the kids at their desks."
The mother could not understand why a teacher would dress like that in front of junior high children. "There was some vibe about her. I knew something was not right... I feel bad for the student. This is something she won't get back. I hope they get what they deserve."
The report shows Stalmach has faced similar allegations before. He started his CCSD teaching career as a PE teacher at Brown Junior High in 2007. He was transferred to Basic High School in 2009. Detectives say he was put on leave that October for inappropriate contact with a female freshman student.
The report shows Stalmach was accused of texting the student and showing the student pornographic pictures. The investigation did not produce evidence of a crime. In May 2010, he was issued a 20-day suspension and transferred to Dailey Elementary School where he was teaching through now.
CCSD said both Stalmach and Dewey are suspended without pay, and the district is moving to terminate both of them.
They are both out on bond. Dewey posted $20,000 bond while Stalmach was released on $60,000 bond, according to Henderson police.
They are both due in court Oct. 1.
