Tailgaters gather for LSU-Washington

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Game two of the 2012 LSU football season is Saturday night at six. Last week, Hurricane Isaac kept some fans away from game day activities, and the first game didn't have the excitement of this one. Friday, a group of Tiger faithful set up early for game day and vow nothing else will keep them away from campus this season.

Marvin Vinnings was happy to raise his American and LSU flags over his treasured tailgate site. The days leading up to the season kickoff last week were not so rosy for him and his wife thanks to Hurricane Isaac.

"Of course we all got run out. We stayed on the road seven days running from Isaac," said Vinnings. "We got back. We had the opportunity to go check on our home, and unfortunately we were burglarized."

Vinnings says coming to tailgate, despite what was going on at home, was the perfect remedy to get him and his wife get out of a slump.

"It's been a struggle the last few weeks and stuff," said Vinnings."We had some other things going, but I'm glad to be here."

Lola Patt and her family did not have any damage to their north Louisiana home,  but she realizes a lot of her fellow tiger fans were not as lucky.

"Some people, I was told, was home because they had no electricity. Their house was flooded, and they didn't get to come," said Patt.

During this second week of the season, the Patts got a taste of some bad luck. Mechanical problems with their RV are now threatening their football fun.

"The generator went out," said Patt. "Then a box caught fire."

Patt says this just a minor hurdle for her group called the "Backrow Tailgaters." Her faith and her good luck charm, Mike, have gotten her through more stressful times.

"He's been through two national championships. He's been through a Sugar Bowl. His been to Texas Stadium," said Patt.

A group of fans ready to support the boys in purple and gold no matter what!

This game is the third meeting of LSU and Washington, the Huskies first visit since 1983.
