At-risk Vegas kids to 'shop' for clothes, school supplies

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

More than 8,100 at-risk school students in the Las Vegas area will have the opportunity to get the clothes and school supplies they need for this year.

The Assistance League of Las Vegas is using its Operation School Bell to clothe students – kindergarten to eighth grade – as part of a one stop shop.

According to the organization, volunteers will help the children get outfitted with two complete sets of wardrobe, which consist of jeans, shirts, underwear, shoes and a hoodie.

The clothes are all new and fashionable, the Assistance League said. Clothing is purchased year-round by the organization's volunteers at cost and wholesale prices. Volunteers are able to buy more than $400 worth of clothing for each child.

The donations come from grants and private donors, ALLV said.

The one-stop shop is set to take place on Monday at the Assistance League facility at 6446 W. Charleston Boulevard.
