LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
No Easy Day details one SEAL's involvement in the raid that killed Osama bin Laden in May 2011.
Other SEALs feel giving details on the topic crossed a line.
Nick Teta was a Navy SEAL from 1985 till 2000 and has just returned from his fourth tour in Afghanistan as an independent security contractor.
Like many in the special forces community, Teta thinks the book's author should have first gotten it approved by the Pentagon before releasing it.
"It's not being received very well, again a lot of people haven't read it, it's just the fact that it's bringing notoriety into the community that doesn't need to be there… the reason he went outside the channels to get the book reviewed, I don't know," Teta told FOX5.
Originally written under the pen name of Mark Owen, the author's cover has since been made public.
Now Matt Bissonnette could face federal prosecution for violating secrecy agreements.
"We strongly believe that there was a requirement for prepublication review in this instance. It wasn't followed and the author is in material breach of his secrecy agreements with the United States government," George Little, the Pentagon press secretary, told reporters in Washington Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Bissonnette dismissed rumors that the release of his book was politically motivated.
"You know it is a political season, (but) this book is not political whatsoever, it doesn't bad mouth either party," Bissonnette said on CBS's 60 Minutes this week.
However, Teta said some good may come from the book in terms of recruitment numbers.
"Anything that mentions SEALs (and) you'll get a spike," Teta said.
