Authorities at Lake Mead are reminding visitors to be smart in the water on Labor Day.
The advice from National Park Service rangers comes a day after a missing swimmer's body was found Sunday, floating in six feet of water in the Temple Bar area.
Rangers said an investigation into the presumed drowning is underway. Authorities in Mohave County, Ariz., though, said the man – identified as Roderick Rayford, 49, of North Las Vegas – was not wearing a life jacket.
Still, authorities urge people to be aware of what they are doing and to drink as moderately as possible.
"What we ask is to keep that common sense," Lake Mead park ranger Prashant Lotwala said. "If you're on the water, wear your [protective floating devices] or have them readily available. If you're consuming alcohol, do it in moderation. Don't get carried away while you're drinking."
Rangers are also advising people to have a designated boat operator and a designated driver. They also said to keep an eye out for all kids on the boat and sand.
NPS noted three driving under intoxication arrests were made already during the holiday weekend.
