LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

One person died after being found unresponsive in an apartment that caught fire near downtown Las Vegas Thursday.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue reported the blaze in the 700 block of W. Williams Avenue, near H Street and W. Bonanza Road, about 6 p.m.

LVFR said firefighters found a woman lying unresponsive in the bathtub of an apartment.

Authorities said firefighters pulled the person out shortly after arriving. The female victim was transported to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Officials said the woman's injuries appeared to be burn and smoke-related, but an autopsy by the Clark County Coroner's office is expected to determine the exact cause of death.

LVFR said the damage was confined to a bedroom. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

Officials estimated the damage to a bedroom at $10,000.

Las Vegas Metro police are also investigating the cause of the woman's death.
