NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -
A North Las Vegas man who was accused on 20 counts of lewdness to a child turned himself into police Friday and then was released.
An arrest warrant was issued for 37-year-old Marvie Hill, who, according to police, had been investigated for lewdness of a foster child he had under his care.
According to detectives, Hill's former foster son alleged multiple incidents of lewdness under his care in 2008.
NLV police said Hill's attorney notified detectives on Thursday to make arrangements for him to appear in North Las Vegas Justice Court on Friday.
Hill was booked and released on $40,000 bond, which, police said, has been posted.
Police also said detectives are investigating additional alleged victims that maybe connected to Hill.
Clark County Family Services issued a statement to FOX5 Friday:
"The safety of the children of our community is of the utmost importance to Clark County Family Services. Once we became aware of the investigation by North Las Vegas Police, we suspended Mr. Hill's license and removed all children from his home. At this time, the Department is cooperating with North Las Vegas Police Department in support of their investigation, including a review of agency documentation and efforts to ensure the well-being of all children who may have come into contact with Mr. Hill.
'Foster parents are called upon to care for our most vulnerable, making the alleged actions of Marvie Hill all the more horrendous. It is important to acknowledge, however, that the actions of one man do not characterize the many citizens who have stepped forward to fill a vital role in our community by caring for the abused and neglected children.
All licensed foster parents in Clark County are:
- Subject to federal & local criminal background checks, as well as a review of all central registries and Child Abuse & Neglect Systems (CANS) of each state in which they have resided for the past 5 years
- Required to complete 30+ hours of training specific to the issues and needs of abused and neglected children
- Subject to a Home Study – an evaluation of family dynamic and an physical inspection of the home which looks for requirements such as appropriate sleeping arrangements, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers."
