LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A Las Vegas woman, who identified herself as "Alecia Keyes," was charged with abuse and neglect related to a 3-year-old foster child under her care.
Las Vegas Metro police arrested Alecia Thomas, 47, on a warrant connected to a Feb. 2011 investigation of abuse.
According to detectives, Thomas, who identified herself as Keyes when she was arrested this week, was providing foster care to three young children at the time of the alleged abuse.
In a police document released Wednesday, a daycare that was supervising the children notified officers of marks and bruises on one of the kids.
Police said a medical evaluation showed signs of "definite abuse" on the girl.
When interviewed by police, Thomas, in the report, denied any abuse on the child and suggested the bruises came from injuries from playing outside the house and on a bunk bed.
The report said detectives searched Thomas' home and obtained a vacuum tubing attachment. Police said the shape of the tool was consistent with the shape of some of the girl's markings.
In the report, a forensic pediatrician also said other marks on the child's body appeared to have come from a belt.
Despite Thomas' denial of abuse, police charged the woman for allowing the injuries to happen to the girl.
Thomas was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a child abuse and neglect charge.
The three children under her foster care were taken into Child Protective Service custody, Metro said.
