NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -
Firefighters were not able to save a pet dog inside a burning apartment unit in North Las Vegas, officials said.
North Las Vegas Fire Department reported the apartment blaze in the 4200 block of N. Commerce Street just after 6 a.m. Monday.
According to officials, crews reported heavy smoke coming from a bottom-floor unit of a two-story apartment building.
Residents in the complex were evacuated, and there were no people inside the burning apartment and neighboring units at the time, NLVFD said.
The apartment affected by the fire sustained heavy smoke and fire damage, investigators said.
Officials said arson is being investigated in the blaze. The cost of damage was not immediately released.
