HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

Stacy Johnson, 41, of Henderson, will spend a year and a day in federal prison for embezzling more than $50,000 from the Laborers' International Union, Local 872.

From 2006 through 2009, Johnson, who worked as a cashier in the front office of the Vegas-based union, pocketed initiation fees and dues.

Johnson was sentenced by a jury in April on seven counts of embezzlement from a union and three counts of falsifying records.

New union members are required to pay a $500 initiation fee and $90 in dues in cash. Johnson would collect the cash, deposit most of it in her personal bank account and falsify documents in order to cover it.

Johnson must report to prison by Nov. 21, 2012. She will serve one year of supervised release and pay $53,500 in restitution to the union upon release.
