Julie Miller (FOX5 file)
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Thursday marked seven years since 68-year-old Julie Miller was shot and killed in a robbery at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino.
For years, Boyd Gaming offered a $100,000 reward for anyone who could help bring the person responsible to justice. That reward has expired, a Boyd Gaming representative Friday confirmed to FOX5.
Back on Aug. 23, 2005, Julie Miller and her husband Ronald were attacked and robbed after parking in the north portion of the Suncoast parking lot.
Metro police said the couple had just arrived and were getting out of their car when they were confronted by a man wearing a khaki shirt, dark pants and a baseball cap.
The gunman made a grab for Julie Miller's change purse, and in the ensuing struggle fired one shot, striking and killing her.
Police said the shooter then ran through the parking lot and got into the backseat of a light colored Dodge Magnum station wagon. It's believed two other people were in that vehicle.
Back on the fifth anniversary of the shooting, Boyd Gaming reminded the public of the tragedy, reiterating that the award was available. On Friday, the company issued the following statement to FOX5:
Boyd Gaming and the Suncoast have worked closely with Metro during their ongoing investigation, and we remain absolutely committed to bringing the perpetrator of this crime to justice. Questions regarding the status of this investigation should be directed to Metro. The reward offered in 2005 has expired.
Anyone with information about what happened seven years ago is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (702)-385-5555.
