HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
The Clark County Coroner's office positively identified Friday a body found in a wetlands area near Sam Boyd Stadium as 17-year-old Will Mootz.
According to Henderson police, the teen's body was recovered about 10:30 a.m. Friday by volunteers who had been searching for him since he fell into the flooded Pittman Wash two days earlier.
The body was found in an area of the wetlands nearly a mile east of Broadbent Boulevard, police said.
Authorities said Mootz was found on the ground, entangled in a group of trees and bushes, and covered in a light layer of mud and debris.
The coroner's office has yet to determine the cause and manner of death, police said.
About 100 volunteers joined members of Las Vegas Metro, Henderson police and Clark County Fire, among others, in the search for Mootz.
On Thursday, during the first full day of searching, crews were able to locate a shoe that appeared to belong to the Green Valley High School senior.
On Friday, volunteers returned to the search site at the wash near Sam Boyd Stadium without police. However, personnel with Federal Emergency Management Administration volunteered search dogs to support the effort.
An account has been created for donations to the family at Nevada State Bank.
