HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
A Henderson woman who said she killed her boyfriend in self-defense was scheduled in a courtroom Wednesday.
According to a Henderson police arrest report, 36-year-old Tammy Lucero strangled David Hudson, 35, after a fight in their apartment in May.
Lucero claimed Hudson beat her, on average, three times a week, according to the arrest report.
Neighbors told police Lucero actually injured herself while trying to commit suicide. According to the report, the reason for the argument the day of Hudson's death was over Lucero wanting his pills.
Henderson police said the case was submitted to the Clark County District Attorney's office in June to determine if charges would be filed.
A warrant was approved on Aug. 15 and police arrested Lucero the next day.
Lucero's preliminary hearing in Henderson Justice Court was scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
