McCarran falls flat on national layover list

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Satisfaction is apparently what many Vegas tourists in and out of McCarran International Airport are not finding in their travel experiences.

According to a new list from U.S. News Travel, McCarran ranks ninth worst out of all airports in the U.S. The knocks on the airport were mainly due to bad performance overall with on-time departures and arrivals. McCarran also ranked poorly with facilities and signage.

Strong attributes included a variety of restaurants and shops, as well as the unique time killer of slot machines and video poker. None of the other 10 airports on the worst list provide a gaming distraction to your travel woes.

The list was compiled using data from traveler opinions to the travel review website SkyTrax.

Some cities ranked poorly for staff friendliness, lack of shopping and dining options and the weather. None of those factors were issues in Vegas.

Here's the full list of the worst offenders:

11- (BWI) Baltimore

10- (ATL) Atlanta

9- (LAS) Las Vegas

8- (SFO) San Francisco

7- (IAH) Houston

6- (FLL) Fort Lauderdale

5- (MIA) Miami

4- (ORD) O'Hare in Chicago

3- (LAX) Los Angeles

2- (IAD) Dulles in Washington, D.C.

1- (EWR) Newark, NJ
