2 children survive fatal rollover in Laughlin

LAUGHLIN, NV (FOX5) -

A 32-year-old man is dead after being thrown from his vehicle during an accident in Laughlin Monday.

It happened around 8:15 p.m. on Casino Drive east of Needles Highway. Witnesses on scene told police that a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner was traveling east on Casino Drive when it suddenly left the roadway for unknown reasons.

Metro said the driver overcorrected and the vehicle began rolling as it re-entered the roadway.

According to Metro the driver was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Officers said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. His identity was not released.

Two passengers, ages 6 and 8, survived the crash with minor injuries. According to police, both were properly restrained.

According to Las Vegas Metro Police the accident Monday is the 78th traffic related fatality of the year in the department's jurisdiction. The case remains under investigation.
