A Las Vegas teen was charged with multiple counts of battery, attempted murder and kidnapping for what police said was an attack on his mother and stepfather at their home.

Las Vegas Metro police said they arrested 18-year-old Connor Sherwin early Sunday morning at a home near Washington Avenue and Pecos Road.

According to an arrest report released Monday, Sherwin had entered a home belonging to his mother, Mary Maser, and stepfather, David Maser, late Saturday night.

In the report, police said Sherwin was armed with an aluminum bat and was waiting for his stepfather to arrive from work. Detectives said once his stepfather entered his home about 10 p.m., Sherwin confronted him and demanded that he get on the ground with his hands behind his back.

When the stepfather did not comply, the report said Sherwin attacked him, striking him multiple times in the head with the bat.

The report said Sherwin bound and tied his stepfather with duct tape and electrical cords. He then dragged him to a nearly empty pool in the backyard of the home, police said. Sherwin placed him in the deep end of the pool of 1-2 feet of remaining water, according to Metro.

In the report, police also said Sherwin confronted and tied his mother when she arrived at the home a couple of hours later.

Detectives said she was also placed in the pool but tried to free herself. Police said she attempted to use her cell phone after telling her son to get medication from her purse. The purse was left unattended next to the pool, the report showed.

According to the report, Sherwin confronted his mother once again when he noticed her trying to escape with the phone.

After failing to come up with the phone, police said she was able to escape by climbing over a backyard wall. She was able to call police at a nearby convenience store, the report said.

Metro said officers arrested Sherwin who was sitting on a front yard wall and waiting for police to arrive.

According to the report, Sherwin told detectives that he had nowhere to live and nowhere to go on the night of the alleged incident.

In an interview with police at University Medical Center, David Maser said Connor told him he hated him and he did this for everything he had done to him during his life, according to the report.

David Maser sustained multiple injuries, including a punctured left eye, a fractured right hand, a bitten left ear with a piece of the ear missing, a lacerated spleen, a skull fracture and kidney injuries, police said in the report.

Police also indicated in the report that a temporary restraining order was placed on Sherwin effective for his parents' home.

Sherwin, who, according to the report, turned 18 on July 25, was booked into Clark County Detention Center on charges of burglary, kidnapping, battery with a deadly weapon, battery with substantial bodily harm, battery domestic violence, attempted murder with a deadly weapon and violation of a temporary protection order.
