Howard Littleton (LVMPD)
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A Las Vegas man is being charged with attempted murder after threatening to kill his girlfriend at University Medical Center.
Howard Littleton was arrested Friday after choking his girlfriend at UMC.
In the moments leading up to the incident, doctors told Littleton and his girlfriend Venediza Williams that their 14-week-old son wouldn't make it through the night. The infant was on full life support at the time, but officials involved didn't release details to the media about why the baby was sick.
According to Williams, Littleton got upset and began saying he would, "Take her down, too." He picked up a syringe, still encased in a plastic bag and said, "I'm going to kill you." He repeated threats multiple times according to Williams.
It was then that Littleton grabbed Williams and began to choke her. According to Williams, hospital staffers were able to pull him from her. When she got loose she ran into a bathroom shouting, "He is going to kill me." She locked herself inside.
Police interviews with hospital staff confirm William's report of the incident. Littleton was arrested by UMC security after being pulled from Williams.
Littleton was arrested for attempted murder and battery/domestic violence by strangulation. According to police this isn't the first time he has faced attempted murder charges for actions involving Williams.
Police say Littleton and Williams live together and have been dating for 9 years. They have 9 children.
