LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A fire on a home caused heavy smoke to appear in a northwest Las Vegas neighborhood early Thursday.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue reported the house blaze in the 2900 block of Harbor Cove Drive, near Rampart Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue, at about 4:26 a.m. Thursday.

According to Fire Public Information Officer Tim Szymanski, a resident in the Desert Shores community drove around the neighborhood to find the source of smoke seen early in the morning.

The smoke came from a two-story home on Harbor Cove, Szymanski said.

Firefighters were met with thick smoke and extreme heat once they forced their way to the home, official said. LVFR said crews were able to put out the source of the fire which was located on the first floor.

The inside of the home sustained extensive damage.

According to fire officials, neighbors noted two women lived at the home.

There was no one inside the home and there were no injuries, fire officials said.

The fire caused about $200,000 worth of damage, Szymanski said.

An investigation into the fire's cause is underway.
