According to the Clark County DA's office, retired professional ice hockey player and Las Vegas resident Michael McBain has been charged with sexual assault.
The complaint indicates McBain has been charged with sexual assault of a victim under 14, lewdness with a minor and sexual assault of a victim under 16. The arrest report indicates the victim was a relative of McBain's.
The arrest report further indicates the alleged abuse occurred for four years, between 2008 and 2012.
McBain turned himself in to police following a suicide attempt by pill overdose in Oregon in June. He confessed to the allegations and was arrested, the arrest report states.
McBain, from Kimberly, British Colombia, appeared in 64 games with the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning and served as the captain of the Las Vegas Wranglers from 2005 to 2007, according to his online bio. He currently serves as an on-ice official for the ECHL.
