LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A total of 33 members of Las Vegas Metro police are slated to be commended Wednesday for helping lower crime in an area in the city's west side.

The officers are being honored in the department's crime reduction program.

Those being honored include officers who helped bring an incident at a bar on Nellis Boulevard and Sahara Avenue under control without the loss of innocent lives, Metro said.

An Army reservist back home from active duty overseas will also receive a Medal of Valor for stopping a gunman at a crowded intersection.

The ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Metro Headquarters.
