Just days after Rep. Paul Ryan was announced as Mitt Romney's running mate, he's already on his way to the valley.
FOX5 political analyst Mitch Fox said Romney's choice for vice presidential candidate isn't a game changer, but it is amping up the conservative base.
"The guy is absolutely brilliant. He's going to do really well in the debate that he has with Joe Biden. He's a policy wonk. He studies the issues carefully," Fox said.
Tuesday, Ryan is scheduled to visit the Venetian, which is operated by Sheldon Adelson, who has dropped millions of dollars on GOP super PACs. No other details on this visit have been released.
Ryan is scheduled to speak with voters at Palo Verde High School Tuesday afternoon.
These visits so soon after he was announced VP candidate show how important the swing state of Nevada is to the upcoming presidential election. The Silver State has been plagued by high unemployment and housing issues for years, and voters are paying attention.
"It is going to take some creative thinking to get out of this situation," registered Republican Henrik Soiberg said.
These visits come a day after the official Romney-Ryan campaign bus launched a five-day state-wide tour. The campaign will visit more than a dozen towns to sign up volunteers and register voters. Last time the bus made a tour, they signed up about 1,000 volunteers. This time they expect to get even more.
"We've got a surge of volunteers in the past couple days since Ryan has been announced as a running mate, so he brings new energy. There's tremendous enthusiasm out there and folks are really excited," NV Communications Director for Romney-Ryan Mason Harrison said.
Fox said Ryan could help Republicans win Wisconsin for the first time since 1984, but that vice presidential candidates don't have too much of an impact on the election, as this one will all come down to the economy.
"They're going to take a look at the unemployment picture and the foreclosures and the homes that are still upside down. They're going to say, 'President Obama, have you done enough for me or Romney, can you do something better for me?'" Fox said.
The Palo Verde High School victory rally gets under way at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. Doors open at 2 p.m. Tickets are free for the public, but you do have to RSVP. For more information or to RSVP, click here.
