LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Las Vegas caretaker of a chimpanzee that escaped from her enclosure for the second time in two months has been cited in connection to the weekend incident.

Clark County officials confirmed Timmi De Rosa was cited for possession of a dangerous animal and for an animal running loose.

De Rosa is being cited for two escapes in which a female chimpanzee named "C.J." broke out of her enclosure. In the first escape last month, a second chimp also was loose but died after a Metro police officer shot him. C.J. was tranquilized and returned to De Rosa after this incident.

There were no injuries in the latest escape involving C.J.

A Clark County spokesman also said the chimpanzee from Saturday's escape was able to pull back some bars at the top part of the cage before breaking out.

An arraignment was set for Oct. 25 at Las Vegas Justice Court.

After being tranquilized on Saturday, C.J. was taken to the home of former Strip magician Dirk Arthur. The chimp is awaiting transport to a sanctuary in Oregon, according to officials at Chimps, Inc.
