LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A grand jury indicted a Las Vegas doctor and two nurses on a second degree murder charge Friday tied to the Hepatitis C outbreak that affected thousands of patients in southern Nevada.

Dr. Dipak Desai, Ronald Lakeman and Keith Mathahs were indicted on the new charge connected to the death of Rodolfo Meana, 77.

Meana was one of seven cases genetically linked to Desai's Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada.

The three are accused of using unsafe injection practices to save money.

Meana died in the Philippines on April 27, his attorney Nia Killebrew said. Killebrew noted he had been suffering from complications connected to hepatitis.

The three already face felony neglect, racketeering and insurance fraud. Their trial is set for October.

On Thursday, the Clark County District Attorney's office said Lakeman and Mathahs rejected plea deals in the case. The office did not disclose the terms of the deal.
