James Johnson (LVMPD)
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A SWAT team was needed to arrest a 20-year-old Las Vegas man suspected in a convenience store slaying.
Las Vegas Metro police said officers located and attempted to arrest James Johnson at his home in the 2400 block of Abarth Street just off Sahara Avenue early Friday morning.
Detectives determined Johnson as the suspect in a shooting at the Sahara Mini-Mart that left 37-year-old Chadrick Wilson dead early Thursday morning.
When officers arrived at Johnson's residence, the suspect refused to surrender, prompting a SWAT team and a Crisis Negotiator to be called on scene about midnight Friday.
Police, though, were able to secure Johnson's surrender just before 4:30 a.m.
Johnson was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges including murder with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, battery and coercion.
