Nathan Burkett (LVMPD)
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A felony arraignment for a 65-year-old man suspected in two homicides – the first of which dates to the 1970s – was delayed Friday.
Nathan Burkett was originally set to be arraigned on murder charges on Friday. Clark County Courts said his arraignment was pushed back to Thursday, Aug. 16
Las Vegas Metro police announced this week Burkett's capture in connection to the deaths of Barbara Ann Cox in 1978 and Tina Mitchell in 1994.
Homicide detectives said DNA evidence and common traits were tied to Burkett.
He was arrested in Mississippi on Aug. 6 and subsequently transported to Las Vegas.
Burkett was booked into Clark County Detention Center on murder and sexual assault charges.
Detectives were also looking into whether Burkett was tied to other unsolved homicides.
