LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The man suspected of shooting and killing a man in Las Vegas Friday is in police custody.
The shooting victim, a bystander to a neighborhood fight, was shot and killed when one of the men involved in the fight began shooting into the air.
The shooting suspect was identified Monday as 21-year-old Anton Louis.
Las Vegas Metro police reported the shooting at the Twain Palms Apartments on Twain Avenue near Swenson Street just after 2 a.m. Friday.
According to officers, a fight between two people was happening at an apartment unit. The fight carried out to a parking lot area.
At the time, a man was watching the fight in the landing area of his second floor unit. Shots were fired during the fight and that was when the person at the second floor apartment was hit.
First responding officers arrived to find the man in his 20s dead at the scene.
"You don't know if your life is going to be taken from one minute to the next," said John Jones, who lives and works near the shooting location.
"It's really crazy to me. There's so much going on over here," said Shirannah Rice, who used to live in the apartment next to where the victim was killed.
Metro's Homicide Section released surveillance camera images of a suspect in a slaying Thursday at a convenience store on Sahara Avenue near Nellis Boulevard.
In that incident, 37-year-old Chadrick Wilson died after an altercation with a suspect, Metro said. Police later arrested 20-year-old James Johnson as a suspect in the shooting.
"We're seeing random individual acts of violence unfortunately, that do turn deadly," said Metro Homicide Lt. Ray Steiber, who added that the violent crime rate is actually going down.
Police urge anyone with information on the incident to call Metro's Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
