MT. CHARLESON (FOX5) -
The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort's annual Festival in the Pines had another successful year.
This year's event raised $2,000 for the Spring Mountain Volunteer Association.
Around 575 people attended the festival.
This will be the largest donation the SMVA has ever received over the course of the fundraiser's 21-year history.
The Festival in the Pines fundraiser was created to support the SMVA nonprofit.
SMVA works in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service to preserve and improve the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area.
The volunteer association manages the construction and maintenance of trails and helps provide educational programs including litter awareness and fire prevention.
Those who attended Festival in the Pines enjoyed arts and crafts from local vendors, live entertainment, scenic chairlift rides and a visit from the U.S. Forest Service mascot, Smokey Bear.
A raffle, a portion of proceeds generated from food and drink sales and money from chairlift rides at the event all contributed to the funds raised.
"Spring Mountain Volunteers Association plays a critical role in maintaining and preserving the beauty of this area," said Kevin Stickelman, LVSSR president and general manager. "We are thrilled to be able to bring the community together to celebrate and support SMVA's efforts."
Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (LVSSR) is located an hour away from downtown Las Vegas in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
